Taco “bout a party! Turning up the heat to caliente, the RR Dance Club’s “Cinco de Mayo! Viva la Fiesta!” was a high-energy night filled with music and dancing. It was a fiesta to remember.
The ballroom was awash in an explosion of color. In addition to Mexico’s national colors of red, green, and white, the country’s landscape of year-round blooming flowers, colorful tiles and dresses, and the color variations in a Mexican blanket all inspired the table and room decorations. Tables were topped with sarapes and replicas of the iconic prickly pear cactus in full bloom. Mexican folk art traditions of papel picado and bouquets of handmade paper flowers embodied the spirit of hospitality and generosity. Sombreros and piñatas added colorful exuberance to the party atmosphere.
This laid-back, south-of-the-border bash was a passport to fun, with dancing to live music by Timeless playing all our favorite tunes from rock ‘n’ roll to pop, country, and everything in between. To make the fiesta complete, dancing the “Macarena,” “Mas Macarena,” and “El Mariachi Loco,” taught by line dance instructor extra ordinario Bert Zeitlin.
And, of course, there were the ever-popular door prizes donated by Nothing Bundt Cakes, Villa Grande Mexican Restaurant, Christina’s Fine Mexican Restaurant, Henry Evans (dance instructor), and Craig DeCrescenzo (pickleball instructor). The lucky winners were Geraldine Gawle, Jeannette Elliott, Paul Belew, Carmen Christy, Dan Patrick, and Kay Schorn.
Keep those feet moving to the music and plan to attend the Dance Club’s summer dance party “Tropical Paradise” set for Friday, July 15, with music from Special Edition. For more information on all things Dance Club, check out our website www.rrdanceclub.weebly.com.
