Tired of your accessories? Jewelry in your inventory rarely worn? That scarf just doesn’t go with anything else you like to wear? Bored with your purses? Fortunately for a gathering of ladies, Peggy Crandell-Duff recently hosted an accessories exchange party at “Peggy’s Poppy Petals” boutique. Each of the invitees was asked to bring three to five items, which they no longer wanted, to Peggy prior to the party. Anticipation mounted as we imagined what baubles, bangles and beads would be awaiting us. As we entered Poppy Petals boutique we were gleefully surprised at the sparkling inventory of necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, scarves, shoes and purses awaiting our viewing. Ooohs” and “aaahs” were heard as ladies surveyed the treasures! Each spotted several items they hoped they would be able to choose before another lady spotted them. Ladies drew numbers, and as Peggy called them each person was allowed three to four minutes for the first round of choosing only one item. For the second round each lady got to choose two items. Perusing the items continued as a treasure trove of items still remained! More choices were made until everyone knew they had found “new-to-them” items that would rejuvenate their inventory of accessories. Joyfully items that remained would be donated to charity. Everyone departed knowing they had shopped, swapped and enjoyed an afternoon of what ladies so enjoy: shopping! Best of all no spending was involved! Peggy’s Poppy Petals boutique is currently closed; we hope someday to see its return.
