With the opening of the new Denton Convention Center and the Embassy Suites Hotel, the Rockin’ Red Ranchers decided to take a look at these new additions to Denton. Thirty of our members met Monday, March 26 in the Embassy Suites lobby and proceeded into the attached restaurant, Houlihans, for a delightful lunch.
While having lunch and visiting, a couple of games about the Rayzor Ranch area were played and prizes were given to those that were most knowledgeable about the area. Kim Phillips from the Denton Chamber of Commerce joined us and spoke on the development of many areas of Denton. We all learned a lot about the future of Denton. She also showcased many upcoming events that are coming to the area.
At the conclusion of lunch, we were joined by three employees of the Denton Convention Center who took us on a guided tour of both the convention center and the Embassy Suites Hotel. It was amazing to see what is now available in our town. There are four huge meeting rooms that can accommodate hundreds of guests. These will provide a great place for corporate meetings, school graduations, proms, weddings and receptions. This will fill a great need in Denton. We all drooled over the Presidential Suite in the hotel and were amazed at the technology built into each room.
Thanks to hostesses Sally Baggott, Rosemary Weinstein and Jan Utzman for a great event.
Upcoming activities for April include a visit to the Patterson Appleton Art Center in Denton on April 18 and a HOOT where our very own Rosemary Simicek will lead us in the adventures of T’ai Chi on April 26.
