Lub dub, lub dub, lub dub – that’s the sound the heart makes when heard through a stethoscope. The heart is constantly at work pumping blood filled with essential oxygen and nutrients to the body’s organs about 2,000 gallons per day 24/7. The pressure of the blood as it travels through the body and pushes against the walls of the blood vessels is the blood pressure.
Knowing your blood pressure is an integral part of managing your health and well-being. Having your blood pressure checked regularly is simple, quick and painless. One place to get it checked is the Living Well blood pressure checks provided free of charge from experienced health professionals associated with the Visiting Nurse Association of Denton (VNA). The checks are performed monthly on the first Thursday of each month between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. in the Bandera Room of the clubhouse.
There are many mysteries in life, but don’t let your blood pressure be one of them. For more information contact Tom Watrak at [email protected].
