Did you know that you can do exercises to help develop your own drawing skills and creativity? Pat Heberling, Paint & Palette Club treasurer, led a group of artists through several practice exercises recently to help inspire and revitalize their drawing skills.
Activities were designed to help you “see” what you are drawing using the creative “right side of the brain.” Participants left with several tools to stimulate more productive drawings. One minute you were drawing an object upside down. Next, you were drawing from memory. In another exercise you were sketching to show only the negative space of the drawing. Another one led you to draw the “action” demonstrated in the picture to make it come alive. The class was unique and included exercises that professional or student artists do frequently to “hone” their craft.
