April 23 will go down as one of the most stylish and spirited gatherings yet, as 88 Baby Boomers donned their finest Kentucky Derby attire and hats for an unforgettable evening of food, fun, and friendly competition!
A Taste of the Derby
Kudos to our fantastic banquet staff who served up a delicious Derby-inspired meal featuring Hot Browns, coleslaw, and homemade chips. And what’s the Derby without Mint Juleps? Ellie kept the spirits high by shaking up plenty of those fresh and classic cocktails!
Trivia Time
After dinner, the games began! Party planner extraordinaire Carla Pevehouse (with a little help from Facebook and Pinterest) hosted a lively trivia game. Each table received a true/false paddle and battled it out for extra prize tickets. Let’s just say, the competition was as fierce as a photo finish at Churchill Downs!
And They’re Off!
Next came the highlight of the night—our hilarious inflatable dice horse races! Five teams were formed by combining tables (Table 1 + 2 = Horse 12, etc.). Each team chose a name and a “jockey,” with two others rolling dice across the room to advance their horse on the track. After much cheering and laughing, the top three finishers were as follows:
1st Sophie Rose, Jockey: Bobby Petric
2nd Hoof Hearted, Jockey: Aasha Jones
3rd Apocalup, Jockey: Lisa Carpenter
Toilet Paper Track Madness
If you thought that was wild, our final game brought the house down—the Toilet Paper Race! Rolls of TP unrolled to form “tracks,” with players pulling their horses (and balancing cups of water!) to the finish line. Hysterical doesn’t even begin to cover it. Check out the videos on our Facebook page!
Best Dressed Awards
Fashion was fierce, and our banquet staff had the tough job of choosing the best dressed. Congratulations to the following winners:
Best Dressed Woman: D’ann Heringes
Best Dressed Man: Jim Snyder
Special Thanks
While Carol and I coordinate the events, we couldn’t do it without our amazing members. A huge thank you to Lisa Lesback, Marion Cozman, and Carla Pevehouse for all your help this month!
Next Up: The Patio Progressive
Our next event is the always-popular Patio Progressive on May 13. But hurry! It’s limited to the first 125 guests and sells out the day tickets open.
