There’s no doubt, Robson Ranchers put charity and community at the top of their to-do lists. Robson Ranch residents Jane and Kelly Petre, Alice and Bill Wright, Vicki and Scott Baker, George and Martha Coleman, Louis and Barbara Leurig, Ralph and Genny Bunker, Tanya Jones, Gene and Carol Heathcoat, Betsy Sheats, and Marv and Bev Daniels attended Bennett’s Bash Gala held Thursday, May 7, in the beautiful Conference Center in Hurst. The Gala was held in honor of Bennett Thomas Coleman, 21-month old grandson of RR residents Martha and George Coleman, who lost his courageous battle to cancer. Proceeds raised from the event supported the amazing people and efforts of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the fight against childhood cancer and other deadly diseases.
The evening was highlighted by a silent auction featuring golf outings, jewelry, summer activity packages, original local art pieces, fashion accessories and more. So as the group scanned the auction tables and discovered coveted items, they came face-to-face with an unforeseen dilemma; all bidding was conducted via remote wireless computer stations and cell phones. Hmmm…no pen and paper to record the bids? But they were not deterred even after a few computer reboots and some solicited instruction from the roving “techies.” Bids were placed and winners announced.
The auction was followed by a fabulous candlelight sit-down dinner and live entertainment from The Aaron Sandoval Band. Guest speakers, including the daughter and son-in-law of the Colemans, shared their vision for St. Jude’s.
Auction, dinner, music and friends…it was a great evening for an even greater cause.
