September seemed to be the banner month for birthdays! Margaretha Kortschak, Joan Krause, Ruby Wilson, Gayle Coe, Mary Ann Carroll, Nancy Garre, Sally Baggott, Carol Cieslik and Peggy Crandell gathered to celebrate three of these decade-marking September birthdays. The first birthday was Jan Utzman’s 80th.
Jan began her 80th birthday celebration with friends at Mr. Frosty’s Drive N in Denton on Friday, August 31. Her actual birthday is September 1, but we couldn’t wait! The attire for the day was white capri’s, in honor of Jan’s fashion directive, “white pants should not be worn after Labor Day”. Mr. Frosty’s architecture, sign, menu and jukebox leaves you feeling like you have traveled back in time. Burgers and frosted root beers kicked off the celebration, along with dancing to “golden-oldies” from the jukebox. Following lunch, it was time to move to the Wildhorse Grill for the afternoon birthday party.
The Wildhorse Grill Lounge was decorated with balloons and a banner that said, “this lady is eighty,” along with flowers, cake, wine and other delights. Over forty guests arrived to wish Jan a very happy birthday throughout the afternoon. Great times were shared with family and friends from Robson Ranch and north Texas.
The day concluded with a dinner party before heading home with visions of burgers, shakes, balloons and cake dancing in our heads.
Happy 80th birthday Jan!
The next birthday we celebrated was Hedy Brooks’ 90th birthday on Friday, September 7. Hedy’s party was hosted by Sally Baggott in her home. Hedy’s friends gathered to wish her a wonderful 90th birthday. Everyone had a wonderful time sharing the evening’s festivities.
Last, but not least, Sharon Foy celebrated her 70th on Friday, September 14, at Barley and Board, located in the heart of historic downtown Denton. Gayle Coe, Sharon Foy, Nancy Garre, Joan Krause, Judy Ondina, Margaretha Kortschak, Jan Utzman and Ruby Wilson gathered to celebrate this significant birthday with great food, great friendship and a great lunch! A wonderful time was had by all!
Here’s to celebrating life and friendship for many years to come!
