The March meeting of New Life Church’s Ladies Lunch Bunch is always special for three reasons:
The first great reason is the food! Our director, Jois Ross, sets the stage for a St. Patty’s Day celebration by cooking up her special, tender and delicious corned beef, and to spare the “faint o’ heart,” she cooks and serves the cabbage separately. Then some ladies bring “Irish potatoes” and the rest of us have fun with the “bearin’ o’ the green,” bringing dishes and desserts that are green or go with the other green dishes. Of course the food was good; several asked for the recipes!
Secondly, March is one of the months we have our New Life Church men join us for the feasting and the program. That’s always a treat for them to sample the many wonderful things brought by our ladies. They also enjoy the chance to share the program with the ladies. During other months they carpool over to Justin to have their Lunch Bunch together at Outlaw Burger.
And then thirdly everyone looks forward to our March program because Marguerite Richardson, gifted pianist, sits down to the piano or keyboard and her beautiful music fills the room while we sing our favorite hymns. The hymnals are passed out to everyone, and one by one we get to name our favorite hymn of all time or for the day, giving the page number; then all of us heartily sing it, looking forward to the next person’s choice, such as Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art and Victory in Jesus. Just a “bit o’ heaven” on earth!
This month there were 37 people in attendance, graciously hosted by Avanelle and “Bill O’Patton” as it read on his green shirt. Their lovely, spacious home gave us ample room to enjoy sharing the meal and a good time together. Several reveled in a chance to sit outside on the patio surrounded by beautiful plants and a refreshing view of the Patton’s well-manicured back yard. You can be sure there was “the wearin’ o’ the green,” especially by Tom and Kris Tarczon who made sure we all shared a “bit o’ blarney.”
Our thanks and appreciation go to Dennis Brooks for his excellent views of our events.
