The Bocce Club held its annual meeting on Jan. 30, with coffee and pastries provided for attendees. Members reviewed and voted on the slate of officers, which included four incumbents seeking re-election. Rick Bidne was nominated for secretary, Marion Napurano for treasurer, and Steve Hecker and John Napurano for members-at-large. Two new members-at-large, Donna Peck and Lorraine Wilson, were also on the ballot. The entire slate was elected.

President Frank Cianci provided updates on club membership and the status of the bocce courts. Construction has resumed, though progress may not be visible due to fencing around the site. The courts are being framed for concrete, and plumbing for the bathrooms has been roughed in.

On Feb. 9 the first Bocce Club Super Bowl Party was held in the clubhouse. The Bocce Winter League played, starting at 1:30 p.m., and doors opened at 2 p.m. to club members for the Super Bowl Party. The event featured a cash bar and nacho and cheese bar in the foyer, and the Italian food truck, Cibo Matto, arrived around 4 p.m. The event was sponsored by Yvonne Callahan, with ERA Myers & Myers Realty, who held four separate $100 ticket drawings. Special recognition was given to Nancy Tastle for her role in organizing the event.

The Spring Bocce Season began on March 10. Matches will take place Monday through Friday at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. over a 10-week period. Last season, 140 teams participated, and membership is now approaching 1,700.

Teams have formed for the Spring Season; however, a few teams may add or delete players closer to the beginning of the season. Those interested in joining can visit rrbocce.com to submit an online membership request.

As bocce continues to grow in popularity at Robson Ranch, the upcoming changes, especially the new courts, are sure to enhance the experience for both seasoned players and newcomers alike. Whether for friendly competition or just a casual game, bocce offers an engaging way for residents to socialize and stay active.
