The Liberty Belles are one busy bunch! The women of the Republican Club welcomed spring with a variety of activities.
On April 3 a group of ladies enjoyed Tea at the Bayless-Selby House Museum in the Denton County Historical Park, just south of Downtown Denton, which was both informative and delicious! In addition to learning about the tradition of afternoon tea, the group learned a great deal about the history of the settlement of Denton; in particular, that of the African-American community.
Members of the Book Club, having completed Mollie Hemingway’s Rigged, voted on their next selection, which will be 25 Lies, by Vince Everett Ellison. Meetings began on May 1. Several ladies of the group met at the Northlake Café for brunch to celebrate the completion of our first read and enjoy social time together.
The highlight of the month was our first Spring Luncheon, which was attended by approximately 45 women members of the Republican Club. Our speaker was Commissioner Diane Edmonson, a Robson Ranch resident and club member, who entertained us with the story of how she came to be involved in politics. Afterward, we enjoyed a baked potato and salad buffet at tables decorated with happy spring bunnies, courtesy of Lisa Gollihar’s personal collection. Organizers Jeannette Bliss and Jan Brefczynski are to be commended for a lovely event, and we will be looking forward to our first Fall Luncheon on Sept. 26!
As always, you can find out more about Liberty Belles’ activities on the Republican Club website, or just stop by our table at the monthly RRRC meeting the first Wednesday of each month.
