The competition is on for the title of 2020 Robson Ranch Best Brisket Chef and/or Best Bean Chef. On Sunday, Jan. 26, you could earn bragging rights in the Pioneer Press and a prize from the Wildhorse Grill for your culinary skills in preparing the best brisket and/or beans.
Individuals may enter the contest, or clubs could challenge another club and enter as a club. Who has the best chefs? Pickleball or bocce ball? SOT or Kiwanis? Golf or tennis or ping pong? Republicans or Democrats? Throw a challenge and come out to win for the team! If you would like to enter this cookoff, please call Catherine Simpson at 817-707-7707 or email [email protected] to reserve your place and to get the logistics/rules of the contest. We are limited due to space, so there are only eight slots for brisket and 12 slots for bean contestants. Register soon before the cut-off date of Jan. 20.
On the day of the cookoff, chefs will set up in the Grill at 3 p.m. The tasting judges will arrive at 3:30 p.m. and will be able to sample the briskets and beans starting at 4 p.m.
That day, the Wildhorse Grill will be selling BBQ plates which will include brisket, macaroni and cheese, beans, Hawaiian rolls, and banana pudding starting at 5 p.m. From 5 to 7 p.m. there will be a country western band playing in the lounge. The cost for the BBQ plate is $25 for food and entertainment. Tickets for these plates may be purchased through Shelbi. If you would like to be one of the 100 Tasting Judges, also see Shelbi Berg for a complimentary ticket. Both tickets will be ready Jan. 2, 2020.
This event is sponsored by New Life Church, which meets at 8:30 a.m. in the Clubhouse each Sunday, and The Wildhorse Grill. May the best griller and cook win!
