Robson Ranch Catholic Club met January 13 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the gracious home of Dr. Bert and Franzi Mullan. This was our first meeting of the new year, and we had a great turnout. We are happy to welcome those Catholics who have come for the first time.
Our guest speaker was Deacon Joe Standridge and his wife Rea. Deacon Joe moved here from Stephenville, TX where he served as Deacon for St. Brenden’s Parish for many years. Deacon Joe shared with us how he met his wife while they were both attending Southwestern Louisiana University and how and when he felt a calling to the deaconate. Deacon Joe was first assigned to St. Mark’s here in Denton, and after purchasing a home across the street from St. Mark’s his assignment was changed to St. Phillip’s in Louisville. Deacon Joe also went over exactly what a deacon in the Catholic Church does to assist the priest. Deacon Joe is also Assistant Vice President for Facilities, Management and Construction at Texas Women’s University here in Denton.
Everyone enjoyed meeting Deacon Joe and his wife Rea. We spent the rest of the evening socializing with our fellow Catholics.
