The Robson Ranch Catholic Community closed the books on 2022 by giving the largest donation ever to Our Daily Bread, and celebrating our commitment to our community and our mission with a dinner the evening of Dec. 16, at the Grill.
The items donated to Our Daily Bread totaled 252 pounds. In the past, our highest number of pounds was just under 200. This included 110 scarves, 61 hats (36 male and 25 female), 45 flashlights, 152 pairs of women’s underwear, 9 bras, 74 pairs of gloves, 76 pairs of socks, 105 men’s underwear, 31 rain ponchos, 72 tubes of toothpaste, and 40-plus bags of hygiene items, etc. This was an extraordinary amount, and Our Daily Bread was thrilled when it was delivered to their new facility on Dec. 12.
The new facility is truly a wonderful place where Our Daily Bread feeds, shelters, and cares for the homeless and at-risk in our community while maintaining the dignity of their guests and offering opportunities for a new start. They are in need of many more volunteers now that they can be of assistance to so many more clients. Please take a look at their website www.ourdailybreaddenton.org for volunteer opportunities.
On Dec. 16, 33 members of our community met for our annual dinner, which began with a social hour from 5 to 6 p.m., then Joan Bridges gave everyone in attendance a prayer card from the Archdiocese of Denver of Our Lady of the New Advent. Joan explained about the card and, as a group, we prayed The Angelus. Deacon Jim Galbraith gave the blessing, and then everyone feasted on a wonderful dinner of chicken marsala, fettuccini, salad, and garlic knots, finished off with holiday cupcakes.
On Jan. 10 our speaker was Father Raymond McDaniel who spoke on the importance of Eucharistic Adoration and its impact on his conversion. Fr. McDaniel is a convert to Catholicism who was ordained a priest 15 years ago. Fr. McDaniel has been Pastor at St. Philips the Apostle Catholic Church in Flower Mound for over nine years. We were blessed to have Fr. McDaniel come speak to our Catholic Community here at Robson Ranch.
We are happy to report that the Robson Ranch Catholic Community has been growing, and beginning in February and most months thereafter, we will be meeting in the clubhouse.
