Catholic Community Kicks Off the 2022-23 Season

The Robson Ranch Catholic Community (RRCC) met on Sept. 13, at the home of Rita and Brett Paxton to kick off our 2022-23 season. There were 48 people in attendance, and everyone was treated to a buffet of homemade ice cream with all the toppings, Coke floats, Rice Krispies Treats, and brownies, compliments of Rita Paxton and Joan Bridges.

An election was held at this gathering, and Joan Bridges and Rita Paxton were unanimously chosen to be our co-presidents, Marge Lane was chosen to be our Outreach coordinator, and Marion Napurano was chosen as treasurer and secretary.

Although this was primarily a social event, we did have a speaker, Kyleigh Havir, Community Outreach coordinator at Our Daily Bread. Kyleigh gave a brief update on the happenings at Our Daily Bread and discussed the merging of Our Daily Bread and the Monsignor King Outreach Center, which will occur in December.

Marge Lane updated the members on our Christmas Outreach Project. Each year we supply clients of Our Daily Bread with personal hygiene items, rain ponchos, hats, gloves, scarves, and underwear. Everyone in the community is welcome and encouraged to join us in this project—no need to be a member of RRCC.

Our speaker for the Oct. 11 gathering was Deacon Ed Posvar. Deacon Ed spoke on “Anointing of the Sick—Interesting Aspects.” This subject was of interest to everyone. At this gathering, there was also an opportunity to donate to the RRCC SOT auction item.

In the coming months, RRCC will host many interesting speakers. In November we will host Fr. Tim Thompson Pastor of All Saints Catholic Church in Fort Worth. Fr. Tim will be addressing “Dying with Dignity in the Catholic Faith.” Please mark your calendar for Nov. 8 as, again, this will be an excellent topic for all.

A Christmas Celebration will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, at the Robson Ranch Grill, so please mark your calendars for this annual celebration.
