Paul Harwood
Christmas is the time to remember His birth
And tell others why God sent Him to earth.
I haven’t heard anyone say, “Merry Christmas,” or smile
But I guess I should in a little while.
They all have this tired look on their faces
As they hurry to shop at all the places.
You think this was the world’s time to be jolly
But it’s so superficial, it adds up to folly.
I see men talking with ear sets in their ears
Talking so loud everyone can hear.
Others are texting, they just can’t wait
They’re in such a hurry, always late.
A group of teens all talking on their cells
I hope they don’t do that while driving so we all can get home well.
If we could somehow get their attention and lay it on the line
And tell them Jesus is coming back and they’re running out of time.
I see the seniors just sitting there all alone.
I want to tell them about Jesus and that heaven could be their home.
And those sitting and staring into space
Let’s try to tell them that God sent His Son to save the human race.
I look for opportunity to spread some Christmas cheer.
But everyone seems to be on a mission, I don’t think they really care to hear.
The merchants will base their Christmas on how much money they make.
But we know the reason for the season and what’s really at stake.
All through the mall the stores are busy indeed
They’re all trying to find something, but it’s a spiritual need.
Its late now and time for me to leave,
‘Cause in a few hours it will be Christmas Eve.
But wait! As I’m finally leaving the mall
A Salvation Army man is smiling and saying
“Merry Christmas” to one and to all.
