The college years are the crossroads of life, a time to choose a path and follow a passion. It’s the time to make a difference in the world. Circle K International (CKI) is the premier college and university community service and leadership organization in the world. Kiwanis Club Robson Ranch is proud to sponsor the newly-chartered Circle K International club located on the campus of Texas Woman’s University (TWU).
CKI is just one part of the Kiwanis family. Circle K clubs are organized on a college or university campus and sponsored by a Kiwanis Club. By giving back to others, CKI members learn the skills they need to become the next generation of community-minded leaders. The club is filled with energetic, passionate and driven young adults who have the power to make a significant impact on the world. With more than 13,000 members in 500 clubs in 17 countries, CKI is making a positive impact by devoting more than one million service hours annually on campuses and in the community.
Both students and a dedicated educator initiated the creation of the CKI on the TWU campus. Pallavi Govindnathan, professor in the Department of Multicultural Women’s and Gender Studies, serves as the club’s advisor. Students from a variety of disciplines stepped forward to take the helm in the club’s leadership roles: Lillian Tovar (psychology), Jalilah Davis (social work), Amber Hooker (nursing), Michelle Tran (nutrition) and Christy Nguyen (nursing). The club now boasts 19 members.
CKI blends community service and leadership training with the opportunity to meet other college students around the world. And through community service and volunteerism these students are making an investment in their own personal development, their community and the people who live in it. Congratulations, Circle K International TWU!
