Theresa L. Peoples, President
The Robson Ranch Garden Club would like to welcome all residents to join us on the third Monday of the month in the Lone Star Room (unless otherwise noted) at 10:30 a.m. To become a member, the dues are $10 per household. Your program chairs, Lori Slocum and Linda Lilley, have been busy and put together a fantastic line-up of programs for the upcoming year!
Our first meeting will be on Monday, September 16, 2019. Our program will be presented by Ms. Cindy Crittenden, who owns Succulent Designs by CC. Cindy will be focusing on real and faux succulent container designs. She has a Facebook page under her business name and she has some lovely posts.
We will have a field trip rather than a meeting on October 21. All members who are interested will meet and carpool to The Classic Café in Roanoke. The owner of the restaurant will escort the group to view his herb garden and then we will have lunch afterwards. The group will meet in the clubhouse parking lot prior to 10:30 a.m.
On November 18 our program will be back at the Lone Star Room at 10:30 a.m. We will have a Master Gardener from Denton County (unknown at this time) who will present “How to Attract Butterflies in Your Landscape”. This will be good information to have before we prep and plant our spring gardens.
December 16 will be a delicious buffet luncheon with a gluten free option. It will be a fun time with games and door prizes; we hope to have everyone mix and mingle before lunch, especially to welcome the newest members to our organization.
Starting the new year off on January 20, we will have a locally renowned celebrity, who is a specialist on orchids. Dotty Woodson has been an Extension Program Specialist for Water Resources located at the Texas Agri Life Research and Extension Center in Dallas, Texas. You may have seen her on NBC channel 5 last January when she passed the torch to her colleague, Daniel Cunningham. Dotty retired and is growing orchids. She will present “All Things Orchid”. This meeting will be open to all residents of Robson Ranch.
February’s meeting will have Mr. Claude Singer giving us a program on “Vertical Gardens”. Interested in seeing one? He helped with the vertical gardens in the lobby of the new Embassy Inn here in Denton.
March will be our plant exchange. Members are welcome to bring any tubers, bulbs, cuttings etc. that they would like to give away and we will have drawings for first picks. This is a great time to get some different plants for your garden, free!
Another field trip is planned for our April meeting. Last spring the Denton Historical Home and Porch tour was attended by several of the RR Garden Club members. The Mounts Avenue home/yard of Bill and Rose Benton was viewed and it was so delightful we pursued an invitation for our garden club members to view it. You will not be disappointed. Bill and Rose Benton did all the gardens themselves. Again, we will meet at the clubhouse parking lot to carpool to the home by 10:30 a.m.
We will finish our year in May with another great Garden Tour. We will keep you posted on the event when the date gets closer.
Mark your calendars. See you all in September. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
