The Conservative Women of Action (CWA) hosted a virtual town hall meeting on March 16 featuring House District 64 Representative Andy Hopper. The discussion covered various legislative topics as the 89th Texas legislative session nears its halfway mark. Due to the filing deadline on March 14, legislative activity on the House floor has been relatively limited so far.
Representative Hopper shared that he has authored and filed a total of 52 bills—one of the highest, if not the highest, number filed by a freshman representative this session. His proposed legislation addresses key issues such as education, gun rights, term limits, and water rights. Additionally, he has introduced several bills aligned with the Republican Party Platform Priorities, which focus on election integrity, border security, limiting federal overreach, protecting state sovereignty, preventing the sexualization of children, and securing Texas’ electrical grid.
Nearly half of Representative Hopper’s bills have already been referred to committees for discussion and review.
Representative Hopper has committed to participating in future virtual town hall meetings to provide updates on the status of his proposed bills and broader legislative efforts related to Republican Party priorities. The event was highly informative, and attendees look forward to ongoing discussions about Texas’ legislative developments.
