Republican women and elected officials in Denton didn’t let subzero temperatures (brrr!) keep them from attending the Denton County Women’s Club monthly luncheon on Feb. 19 at Boka Feliz restaurant in downtown Denton. The room was packed with members, officials, and guests who enjoyed a delicious lunch and inspiring speeches by five of the six Justices of the Peace who preside over courts in Denton County.
After an opening prayer by Sheriff Tracy Murphree and pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags, current office holders and candidates were introduced, including Robson Ranch homeowner Julie Greenawalt who is running for Place 3 on the DISD school board. Attendees learned about truancy issues and eviction procedures and the compassionate ways the Justices try to help those who find themselves in danger of dropping out or not having a place to live, all while still following the letter of the law. The Robson Ranch Conservative Women of Action (CWA) left with full tummies and an appreciation for these men and women who serve our community so admirably.
