The Robson Ranch Democratic Club (RRDC) just completed a cleanup of Robson Ranch Road from I-35W to Yarborough Way, so all residents have less trash to look at coming to and going from Robson.

The roadsides are much cleaner, thanks to the RRDC’s cleanup financial donors, in partnership with Rodney’s Lawncare and Landscaping Company. The cleanup cost $1,200, leaving the club with $435 as a reserve for the next cleanup project in 6 to 12 months.

The club is happy to accept donations for future cleanups from members and non-members. Send checks made out to Robson Ranch Democratic Club, with “Cleaning” in the memo line on the check, to Richard Kushmaul, 9612 Sandalwood Drive, Denton, TX 76207. Such donations are earmarked for the cleanup and will not be used for any other purpose. Richard organized the fund drive and cleanup.

“This project matters to me and the Democratic Club, in these ways,” he said. “It helps us as residents and RRDC members show our support and pride in the greater Robson community. It serves the community by addressing the club’s environmental initiative. It facilitates a broader club member participation and supports a local business, which has an excellent reputation and provides needed services.

“Many thanks to the project’s special donors and to the RRDC board for matching those donations from the club treasury, giving us all a piece of the action in this excellent spring cleanup of Robson Ranch Road.”

Rodney Flores and his crew worked all day on April 1 picking up trash and debris from the north and south roadsides over the full length of Robson Ranch Road from the Hunter Ranch gate entrance near I-35W to Yarborough Way on the west. They cleaned all three miles, except for the fenced-off new construction area on the south side.

Rodney’s crew collected and hauled to the refuse center more than 100 large bags of trash, including carpet pieces, construction materials, tire treads, plastic sheeting, Styrofoam, a broken-down construction barrel, and other debris—an entire utility trailer full.

In a special surprise, Rodney discovered the missing Denton County RRDC roadside adoption sign down and lying in the grass. His crew remounted it at the southwest end of the road near the Michelle Way entrance.

This is the latest in a series of cleanups since RRDC adopted the three-mile stretch through Keep Denton Beautiful and Denton County in 2017, thanks to members Tom and Janie Cindric.

You can learn more about RRDC on our Facebook page facebook.com/groups/rrdemocraticclub.public or by attending any of our meetings, which are open to any Robson resident. We meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month (except May, June, July, November, and December) in the clubhouse.

A club Open House is planned for May 20 from 3 to 5 p.m. at 12521 Pumice Lane, and non-members are invited to attend. RSVP to [email protected] if you plan to attend the May 20 Open House.
