Alright friends, over the past few months, we’ve given advice about decorating nearly every aspect of your home. From window coverings to livening up your outdoor living space, we’ve had you covered. However, there is still one space that we have neglected: the big blank wall that you don’t know what to do with. Even if you have a million-dollar view out those beautiful windows across the back of your home, odds are that either across or adjacent to that view, there is a blank wall just waiting to be decorated. The possibilities are endless, friend. So, whether it’s your bedroom, kitchen or family room, we’ve compiled a few ways to liven things up and help you make the most of your space.

The classic solution to this problem is to hang a large piece of artwork on the wall. Finding a piece that works with the colors of your space can help tie a room together. There is so much creative freedom in selecting a piece of artwork for your home. For instance, say you have a large blank space above the sofa in your family room. Hanging a floral painting on the wall that features multiple colors allows you to play with the design of your space by incorporating rugs, draperies and decorative pillows that draw out different colors in the artwork. Perhaps your space is centered around the trending blues this season and you want something a little more unique for your home. Try hanging a piece of metal artwork on the wall in a silver, steel blue or gunmetal color. This will flow nicely with the cool tones of the room and give your space an interesting focal point.

If you are looking for something a little more personal to decorate your space, try framing some of your favorite photos to hang in a collage on the wall. Varying the size of the photos as well as their content, such as photos of loved ones or favorite places you have visited, makes your home welcoming and inviting. If you have a light, neutral colored wall, such as beige or white, framing these photos in black or dark wood frames will provide beautiful contrast and give your space a sleek, sophisticated feel. The opposite is true if you have a dark wall. A bright white frame will contrast with the color and make your photos pop!

If you are not a fan of artwork hanging on your walls or a collage of photos, there is another option for you, friend. Perhaps you have a collection of knick-knacks that you would love to show off. If this is the case, consider putting shelves up to display your treasures! Built-in shelving used to be the staple in every home. Nowadays, open concept shelving is all the rage. Whether your blank wall is in your family room, bedroom or kitchen, shelving is a perfect way to fill the space. Try adding greenery to your shelves to breathe life into your space.
