The Rockin’ Red Ranchers toured the Denton Airport on July 17. We were met by the airport director Ryan Adams who gave us an excellent overview on the workings of the airport. Did you know that Denton is the fifth busiest airport in Texas? This is chiefly due to the many takeoffs and landings of planes flown by students attending several different flight schools located here. The group also had the opportunity to visit the Control Tower under the supervision of air traffic controller Rob Manchett. Lunch at Houlihan’s restaurant in the Embassy Suites rounded out our afternoon.
Then on Aug. 15 Queen Sandy Hestes hosted a Hoot (no reservations needed) get-together to enjoy the cool morning to try out the new Donut Shop and Dumont Creamery & Cafe across from the main entrance. The Donut Shop surprised us and brought out a couple dozen donut holes as an appreciation for our group’s visit. The Dumont Creamery gave everyone a free croissant when they purchased a coffee. The highlight of the morning was that Arlene and Sandy unexpectedly had the same shirt on—twins for the day!
