The fall softball season is in full “swing” with the first games held the week of September 4. There have been many great plays so far. If you have not been by the beautiful Field of Dreams lately there are more screens to provide shade for players and fans. The season runs through October 19, and games are held Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 5:30 p.m., so come out and cheer everyone on.
Each game starts with a flag ceremony followed by the National Anthem. During the action packed game, you can look forward to lots of good natured ribbing and everyone pretending like we are still in our 20s!
Social activities are organized by the teams (at someone’s house or a local establishment) for food and drinks after each game. This gives us a chance to tell more tales about how well (or not so well) the game was played that night.
Special thanks to everyone who volunteers to make the softball season happen: over 95 players, managers, umpires, announcers, scorekeepers, grounds crews and the board of directors. Most would be surprised at the level of work it takes to make the season take place. We would encourage anyone who wants to volunteer to talk to any board member. There are plenty of non-playing activities that could use your help.

On Saturday and Sunday, October 22–23, an end-of-the-season tournament and free picnic will be held. This is open to everyone so plan on attending.
On Saturday, October 1, a large contingent from the softball association attended the UNT (University of North Texas) football game against Middle Tennessee. We had a special area outside of the stadium for a Robson Ranch tailgate party with unlimited food from Rudy’s Barbecue. We traveled in style by bus from the RR clubhouse parking lot to and from the game. Thanks to David McKie for his efforts in organizing this event!
