The Robson Ranch International Club met at Dianne and Fred Van Naerssen’s home on February 18, 2016. It turned out to be a wonderful treat for all the members. Dianne and Fred had taken a great deal of trouble and prepared a wonderful variety of Indonesian cuisine for dinner. The number of items were so many that it would be difficult to name all of them, but some of them that I can remember were Nasi Goreng (fried rice), Beef Rendang with coconut (meat curry), Sajur Boonties (green beans), stir fried bok choy, chicken curry (mild and hot), Balado (boiled eggs), Indonesian barbecue chicken, cucumber salad and a variety of sauces. What a treat! Some members brought an assortment of appetizers and desserts. Alfred van Gool was asked to bring his famous cake, which the members enjoyed along with a rich variety of Indonesian food.
Fred asked the members to dress in their traditional dresses if they wanted to. Some of the members did dress up, and of course I jumped at the chance because I rarely get an opportunity to wear my saris.
Our next International Club meeting for March will be at Wayne and Erna Seale’s house, 10109 Sandhurst Dr., on Thursday, March 17, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Erna will provide a Mexican chicken casserole dish.
