As part of the Christmas festivities in December, the Sonshine Sisters PPP (Pray, Praise, and Play) group went to the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine to see the ICE! exhibit. This year’s theme was from the film Elf, brought to life through the colorful, hand-carved ice sculptures depicting memorable scenes from Buddy’s antics. The sculptures were created by 40 master artisans from Harbin, China, who spend over a month using more than 6,000 blocks (two million pounds) of ice to create the 10 sculpted scenes with vivid colors and LED lighting.
In addition to the walk-through wonderland of the ice sculptures, the ladies also enjoyed the fun of sliding down the two-story-tall ice slide and seeing all the festive decorations of the Christmas village and the atrium of the Gaylord. Poinsettias, multi-themed Christmas trees of all sizes, toy soldiers, and lights provided a magical, seasonal experience for the PPP ladies.
Women Sharing Hope sponsors 11 PPP groups, four of which are for widows and one for working women. These are small groups of women who meet together once a month. Each month one member is hostess, and she chooses the venue and event for the group’s “Play” activity. For more information about the PPP groups, contact Barbara Browning at 432-528-1118.
Women Sharing Hope, a Robson Ranch organization, exists to develop friendships, grow in faith, and share God’s love. The organization typically meets the first Friday of the month and, in addition to the PPP groups, sponsors a variety of other ministry opportunities to carry out its mission in the Robson Ranch community.
