It must be the third Tuesday of the month, since there is quite a gathering of men entering the Grill at 8 a.m. eager for a cup of coffee and anxious for a delicious breakfast. Who are these guys who call themselves ROMEOs? Robson Old Men Eating Out (ROMEO) has been an attraction for men at the Ranch for many years. In the past, the men would gather at various restaurants in Denton once a month for some social interaction. Dwight Evans and Leon Koch were early leaders in this monthly event. In more recent times, the men gather at the Wildhorse Grill for a scrumptious breakfast with omelets, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and biscuit and gravy or French toast—a delicious, full breakfast for only $10, and all here at the Ranch. Our general manager Brett Hubbard is even there to prepare omelets on order.
So, what do the men say about the ROMEO experience? Here are some comments from three men who recently attended the gathering:
“I think it has great value, and we have good fellowship, and I enjoy the comments from the moderator.”
“It’s the best deal in town, and you’re able to meet new residents and talk about items of interest with one another in a friendly atmosphere.”
“The breakfasts are great, and we have some positive commentary, and we do share some humor with our jokes.”
Acting as a moderator, Jim Galbraith has a thought for the day and some comments about life in America, past and present. In between, new residents are introduced, upcoming events are announced, and thoughts and prayers are offered for those who are ill or have recently passed away. And, of course, the men enjoy some humor to help them laugh at themselves. Galbraith feels that the important part of the gathering is the fellowship of the men who gather to share their thoughts and review events that affected their lives.
ROMEO is open to any man who desires to spend a morning with breakfast and fellowship with the fine residents of our cherished community, Robson Ranch. Come on the third Tuesday of next month at 8 a.m. and check us out. A cup of hot coffee will greet you. If you have questions about ROMEO, feel free to give Jim a call at 940-205-1506.
