This past Thanksgiving morn met many with the briskness of winter approaching. However, it did not dampen the spirits of over 200 participants and volunteers in the third annual Turkey Trot. Folks gathered around 8:00 a.m. along with many four-legged friends who anxiously awaited the start of this year’s three-mile walk/run. Smiles and laughter were heard as some warmed up with their favorite “chicken,” or should we say “turkey” dance.
With great anticipation, one, two, three go, and off they went! Runners led the pack with speed walkers next followed by families with strollers of exuberant children enjoying their participation. The barks of our four-legged friends were evidence that they were cheering each other on throughout the walk. The sun shone down on all, and a beautiful morning unfolded as the first to finish completed their journey in around 20 minutes.
Everyone was welcomed at the end of their walk/run as they gathered for steaming hot chocolate and cookies provided by the gracious staff from the Wildhorse Grill. Each year the Turkey Trot is held by the Living Well Committee. Many volunteers enable this joyful event to take place, and we send a special thank you to all the participants and volunteers who helped make this year a fun and jubilant morning.
