Garden Club members visited the cottage gardens of Joanne and Steve Spurgin, 701 Seville Road, Denton, on April 20. Steve and Joanne guided small groups around their extensive, half-acre lot. There were so many shrubs, plants, shade, and sunny areas. Joanne called it a “cottage garden.” Joanne and Steve travel extensively and brought back many plants and garden ideas. They are both Master Gardeners. Joanne showed us pink “Peggy Martin” roses, which will repropagate themselves into buckets of soil but require a substantial support trellis. Amaryllis were thriving in pots. Look for the orchids in the shade garden in the back. There is even room for a family heirloom swing and play area.
