Nancy and Dale Spaulding, Robson Ranch authors
David Randall
As 2025 comes to a close, the Robson Ranch Genealogy Club extends heartfelt appreciation to longtime member and current Programming Director Emily Richardson for delivering yet another outstanding year of speakers, video presentations, field trips, workshops, and social gatherings. A professional genealogist and the current president of the Texas State Genealogical Society, Emily continues to enrich our community with her generosity, expertise, and passion for all things genealogy.
We are also delighted to spotlight fellow member Dale Spaulding and his wife Nancy who have recently published two new genealogy-themed children’s books. Curious Cathy’s Quirky Questions follows a bright and imaginative young girl with big questions about her family’s past. Through a warm and thoughtful conversation with her grandfather, Cathy learns about the remarkable people who came before her, discovering her own story along the way.
The couple’s second release, My Family History Journal, is an engaging, easy-to-use workbook that invites children to explore their roots. With guided prompts and plenty of room for drawing, writing, and adding photos, it turns learning about family history into an exciting, hands-on adventure.
Dale is also the author of the award-winning narrative Fortitude, which traces one family’s journey from their early origins in England through more than four centuries in America. His writing brings generations to life while placing their experiences in rich, historical context. All of Dale’s books are available on Amazon and through other major book retailers.
If you’ve ever been even a little curious about your own family history, we invite you to visit us when we reconvene in January. The club offers formal presentations on the first and third Tuesday of each month and informal Workshops and Help Sessions on the second Monday. All meetings take place in the CATC, Room 104.
Our first event of 2026 will be a Help Session and FamilySearch Workshop on Jan. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. Feel free to drop in with questions or projects. Then, on Jan. 20 from 7 to 8 p.m., we will host Preserving Your Family’s American Story for the Next 250 Years, a Zoom presentation by professional genealogist Kate Penney Howard. Kate will share practical strategies for interviewing relatives, organizing documents, using DNA effectively, and creating family history projects that your descendants will treasure, just as you treasure discovering your ancestors today.
Whether you’re a seasoned genealogist, a casual dabbler, or someone who has no idea where to begin their family history journey, the Robson Ranch Genealogy Club welcomes participants of all experience levels. Your first visit is free, and annual dues are only $20 for individuals or $30 per household.
We look forward to seeing you in the new year!
