Hopefully, everyone enjoyed the holidays and is ready to jump into genealogy!

The meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 17, will be “20 Websites Every Genealogist Should Be Using” (Round 2), presented by Emily Richardson. In July, Emily presented Round 1 of “20 Websites Every Genealogist Should Be Using.” Many have asked whether there are more than 20 sites. The answer is, “of course!” This presentation will offer 20 additional websites to help in your research. Topics of Books, Maps, Military, States, Photographs, and Digital Collections are just some of the categories that will be reviewed during this fast-paced, hour-long session.

Emily Richardson is a Robson resident who has been involved with genealogy for over 40 years. She is the programming chair for the Robson Ranch Genealogy Club, but also is the secretary for the Texas State Genealogical Society. Her business, Kinsearchers, offers help to individuals who want to find their ancestors. Her focus is always about finding the stories that bring interest and background to the ancestor she is searching.

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, there will be an evening Help Session in the CATC, Room 104, from 7 to 8 p.m.

Monday, Feb. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the CATC, Room 104, is the Kickoff Writing Workshop. During the first half of 2023, the focus will be on writing about your grandparents. The idea is to have each member of the Robson Ranch Genealogy Club produce a short (1,000-word) story about one of their grandparents. We are looking to create our own book of stories. Think of our various backgrounds. How fun it will be to create something that is unique to the Robson Ranch community.

This initial workshop will get you on your way, providing samples of possible outcomes, questions you might want to consider, and helping you to plan your writing. Additional support will be provided throughout the spring. Come, participate, and write!
