Girls on Wheels journeyed all the way over to the home of Jarri Bunde in Harvest in Northlake. Our quest was to learn more about baking from scratch and actually make croissants. First, we donned our aprons, which Jarri provided. Jarri had all the ingredients ready. It is amazing how much butter goes into croissants! When the dough was ready, we learned the proper way to roll out the dough in a “perfect” rectangle. Next, we cut the dough in triangles and carefully rolled each one. An egg wash was brushed on each croissant. We also made yummy chocolate and blueberry scones. Jarri gave excellent instructions, and we felt very proud of our delectable accomplishments. We had a delightful variety of baked goods to take home!

Jarri’s website is www.atasteofparisinharvest.com. A Taste of Paris in Harvest was founded in 2020 by Jarri Bunde during the COVID-19 quarantine. It started as a way to help neighbors get fresh bread when stores were closed and supplies were scarce. It evolved into a cottage micro-bakery offering croissants, breads, scones, pastries, and macarons. Jarri says, “Bread is truly our jam (pun intended), and we take such joy in seeing the enjoyment from our customers who try our fresh-baked bread.” They take pride in crafting artisanal pastries and breads using the finest ingredients and local products when possible.
