As the holiday season approaches, the Denton Animal Support Foundation (DASF) encourages the community to give one of the most meaningful gifts: hope. With the City of Denton Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center facing consistent overcrowding, DASF’s annual Holiday Appeal comes at a crucial time for pets in need.
Every donation to DASF helps ease the burden on our city’s shelter system and provides life-changing support to pets and their owners throughout Denton County. For many animals, your generosity could mean the difference between mere survival and a second chance.
DASF’s programs aim to prevent homelessness, keep pets with their loving families, and promote faster adoption of shelter animals. Many community members are familiar with DASF’s Adoption Subsidy Grants, which reduce adoption fees for harder-to-place pets, such as older animals, those with medical needs, or breeds often overlooked. These subsidies help connect pets with caring families more quickly, creating space at the shelter.
But the work doesn’t end there. DASF also runs longstanding programs to divert shelter intake and support pet owners facing financial struggles. Through our Emergency Pet Food Pantry, we supply food to more than 1,200 pets each month. Our free rabies and discounted vaccine clinics promote year-round pet health, and we offer spay/neuter assistance through various clinics throughout the year. These programs help more than animals—they keep families united.
The need has never been greater. With local pet owners experiencing financial hardship and resources stretched thin, DASF relies on year-end donations to sustain its programs into 2026.
