Catherine Simpson
On October 31 a group of women went to 30 homes at the Ranch to bring a bit of cheer (and candy) to those who are caregivers, who have or are dealing with illness or the loss of a loved one. Once again, after eight years of this activity, it is always a question as to who was blessed more—those who were visited or those who visited. The holidays are around the corner. These times can be difficult for those dealing with such challenges. In December we will venture out again to bring some cheer. This time we will be caroling to those who need a hug.
Another way we give hugs is through Robson Angels.
The mission of Robson Angels is to support the needs of caretakers and their loved ones here at Robson Ranch. I have received calls from those who have received care from the Robson Angels. I have also received calls from the Angels themselves sharing with me the blessing they have received. I am not sure who has received the bigger blessing—the caregivers or the Angels!
The Angels do not want pay; they just want to give back. Many of them have been caregivers themselves and know the needs of those caring for loved ones. I also receive calls from Robson Angels who call me sometimes to say they wish they were getting more calls. So please do not hesitate to call one or more of them for help. We may all need a helping hand someday.
If you have a need please call anyone on this list. If the one you called can’t help at that particular time, call another. Get to know several so you have backups during emergencies. This service is for you! The names of this group are always in the Robson Intranet Classified section under “in home assistance.” If you would like to become a Robson Angel or would like to join us in caroling, just let Catherine Simpson know at 817-707-7707.
Caregivers, need a break from taking care of your loved one or loved ones? Want to plan a lunch with friends, do a little shopping, get a haircut, visit a dentist, or just have someone to talk to? Call a Robson Angel who would be happy to stay with your loved one for a few hours so you can have some me-time! This is just our way to give back to our community. Many of these folks have been caregivers themselves, they understand! Don’t be afraid to call; these people really want to help you. If you would like to volunteer to be an Angel or have questions, please call Catherine Simpson at 817-707-7707. Allow us to pay it forward.
