Jan Marx, education director and a teacher in the Happy Potters Club is once again stirring up the creativity genes of our members and causing questions to be asked. She is giving demos guiding the members to understand a portion of the artwork of the Southwest Pueblo natives.
To make it more interesting and exciting, Jan has thrown down the gauntlet and we have picked it up. Storyteller dolls from the 1960s, very collectible and colorful, unique and personable, will be the subject matter of a competition held on March 24. There will be judges and prizes and we will have displays in our window.
Storyteller dolls consist of an adult telling a story to children, many times multiple children. They can be people, animals, turtles or more but always an adult with his mouth open telling a story. This represents the culture of the people with their history recorded in the story of the artwork.
Jan Marx has an active and vibrant mind, keeping us rock’n and roll’n and we are love’n it. Please look forward to the fruits of our labor in the spring!
