Not only do potters love making mud pies, they also enjoy a good get together with edible breakfast pies. Monday, June 13, we came together at Lori Humphries’ house to inaugurate two new officers. Liz Katz takes on the two-year task as president with Colleen Jordan as vice-president. Remaining another year are Nancy Lussier as secretary and Gary Triebsch as treasurer. Hopefully through coercion we’ll be able to keep them longer than that.
Before sitting down to delicious breakfast treats, members listened to outgoing President Dawn Schiegg who presided over the meeting giving special thanks to this year’s officers. As always chatter and laughter filled Lori’s fascinating house.
With a wealth of knowledge among our ranks, classes continue to fill our calendar. In July and August Carolyn Detjen will teach four separate classes on how to make a teapot. Everyone who attends will complete one before leaving their one-day class. Look for a display of all the teapots in the window in September.
Also in September Liz Katz will present a workshop on making her darling horses, and in November Jackie Graham will show members how to create pine needle edges on pottery bowls.
In order to be a part of the club, interested future potters should come to the potter room and sign up for the last class of the year in September.
