Happy Tails Dog Club Hosts Successful Events and Prepares for Busy Year

March 1 was an eventful day for the Happy Tails Dog Club. The club participated in the Robson Club Open House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the clubhouse where it hosted an information table. The event was a success, with seven new members joining and two members renewing their memberships. Club members Judy Sales, Lys Olenkiewicz, Teresa McGill, Janet Pauley, and Cheryl Spencer managed the table and engaged with many new residents interested in the club.

Later that afternoon, Happy Tails board members Teresa McGill, Janet Pauley, Donna Steibel, and Lorraine Wilson switched gears to set up the clubhouse ballroom for the club’s Spring Benefit Concert. With board member Char Niemi serving as the evening’s emcee and local band The Jolly Ranchers performing, attendees enjoyed a lively atmosphere. Those who attended had a great time dancing and enjoying the music. The event raised $1,800, which was presented to Happy Dance Dog Rescue, a local organization that rescues small dogs from shelters, provides veterinary care, and finds them foster or permanent homes. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this very worthy event!

Looking ahead, the club has several upcoming events. On April 12 a spring photo event will take place featuring a garden backdrop bursting with seasonal blooms—a perfect setting for capturing cherished memories with furry friends. Local dog owners will have the opportunity for a private photography session to capture memories with their pets.

On May 10 Cindy Ratliff from Dog Scouts of America’s Lone Star Paws Squad in Dallas/Fort Worth will be the club’s guest speaker. Dog Scouts of America encourages people to help their dogs be all they can be. The more a dog learns, the more welcome that dog becomes in more places.

During the month of May, Happy Tails will also hold a Pet Food Drive. Drop-off boxes will be placed at club member homes throughout the Ranch. During last year’s event, 2,772.35 pounds of pet food was donated! Working with the Denton Animal Support Foundation, the Pet Food Drive will benefit the Pet Food Pantry at the Linda McNatt/City of Denton Animal Shelter, Our Daily Bread, SPAN Meals on Wheels, Senior Paws, and the Denton Veterans Association.

In June the club will host a Paint Your Pet event where members can create personalized pet portraits. Participants must provide a photo of their pet, which will be outlined on a 16” x 20” canvas by an artist. Members will then paint their pets using any colors they choose. The event will be held in the CATC Paint Room (103) and will require a participation fee.

Happy Tails Dog Club meets on the second Saturday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the CATC building, Room 103. Annual membership is $10 per household. Those interested in joining are encouraged to attend a meeting or review our website at www.rrhappytailsdogclub.weebly.com to learn more about the club’s activities.
