Happy Tails Dog Club’s guest speaker at the Sept. 10 meeting was Jamie Olin from the Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN). Jamie gave us insight into what their group does and what they have done for animal welfare, along with letting us know how the Texas Legislature works. It truly is amazing what this group has been able to do, especially given the many steps a bill has to go through in order to be signed into law. Jamie also talked about the bills this organization has worked to make into laws in Texas, such as the Anti-Tethering Law and Loco Law, which make animal cruelty a felony.
Our October meeting was on Oct. 8, and it was an extra-busy day! First was our regular monthly meeting with speaker Dr. Kirk Rexroat, chiropractor from Argyle Family Chiropractic in Argyle. Dr. Rexroat adjusts both people and canines and talked to our group about the philosophy of chiropractic care and how it can help our dogs.
Also on the same day, Happy Tails Dog Club sponsored two animal rescue organizations at the annual Holiday Market held at the clubhouse. Both EARS from Dallas and Humane Tomorrow from Argyle brought dogs for an adoption event.
On Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., our annual fundraiser Santa Paws will be held in the CATC building in Room 103. This year you will again have a choice to have a photograph of your dog with Santa or without Santa. For just $10 for current Happy Tails Dog Club members and $20 for non-members, you will get a short photo session for up to two pets or people and a digital file emailed to you for your personal printing or card ordering. More pets or people will incur an added charge of $5 each. Further details will be sent out in the HOA emails and will be posted on our website, rrhappytailsdogclub.weebly.com.
Happy Tails Dog Club is now sponsoring a Facebook page for dog-related information for all of Robson Ranch. Our idea is to make this a dog page for everyone here at Robson Ranch. Anything dog related can be posted on the page: lost dogs, found dogs, dogs looking for homes, dogs dressed up, dogs doing cute things, dogs with their human companions, and just pictures of dogs being dogs! If you are interested in joining, please go to tinyurl.com/munx7run
