Boo! everyone. I am not a fan of Halloween, but I have never met a pumpkin, gourd, or fall leaf that I did not love. Fall is officially here, and we are enjoying the wonderful weather. I see my neighbors pulling out their summer annuals and getting winter color into the ground.
This is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To any of you who have been in treatment or are undergoing treatment, our thoughts and prayers are with you. This touches so many families. Although National Coffee Day on Oct. 1 has passed, I know for sure that I did not forget my daily dose of caffeine.
Our monthly meeting was held on Sept. 20. There were 30 Stampers in attendance. Our club now has 66 paid members. Our project leader for the month was Vie Knouse. She taught us a very versatile card called a Diagonal Double-Pocket Fun Fold. Following her written directions and looking at her template made this card relatively easy to put together. We had the option of making a bookmark that would fit nicely into one of the pockets. Here, again, the talented table teachers led everyone through the steps. Our objective in class is to not only learn a new and creative way of selecting stamps and folding paper, but to have fun. Looking around the room, it was obvious that our objective was fulfilled.
Our main means of communication for members is on GroupSpot. There you can see the roster of members and their contacts, upcoming events, and in the vault, one can find additional information. Cherlyn Conway is in charge of receiving SOT (Support Our Troops) cards. The SOT club holds an annual Veterans Day auction on Veterans Day. This year it will be on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Members are encouraged to make 11 Christmas cards of the same design for the auction. These are required to have liners and envelopes. An additional need is for all-occasion cards. Ten cards of assorted designs with sentiments for birthday, thank you, sympathy, get well, or just thinking of you are welcome. These also require envelopes and liners. If one would like to undertake either of these projects, they are due by Oct. 25. One can take them to class on Oct. 18 or drop them off on Cherlyn’s porch at 11905 Willet Way.
Coming up is the annual Stamp Scrap Art Tour in Mesquite, which takes place on Nov. 15 and 16. Visit their website at stampscraparttour.com/mesquite-tx-nov-15-16-2025 for a list of vendors and tickets.
