First time attendees introduced themselves, told how long they have lived here, where they recently moved from and where they are living at Robson Ranch. President Teresa Blackburn-Korn then read a list of all members celebrating a birthday in August while an audio tape mariachi band played Happy Birthday reflecting our theme of “A Taste of Herb.”
Chris Melo, our hospitality chairperson, acknowledged and thanked fellow committee members Sandy Conwell and Aurora Forsting. A special thank you to Linda Stuart, Sharon Foy, Ruby Wilson and Paula Monroe for the table decorations. Two door prizes were donated by our president, Teresa Blackburn-Korn.
Linda Stuart, our service chairperson, reports that the donation to Denton’s Friends of the Family Charity was $517 and that 44 backpacks for kids going back to school were also donated. Thank you for all your continued generosity.
Peggy Crandell introduced the musical group, Taste of Herb. The five-piece band is the world’s premier Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass tribute band. They played many songs from that era, dedicated to reviving the sounds and feel of this once popular style of music. The music was retro, hip and oh so groovy!
