Althea Parent

The last HOA Trivia Night for 2015 was a huge success. There were 21 playing teams and three spectator teams; all those who attended had a great time and enjoyed the treats provided by Brandt Travel. We have several returning teams each time, but a lot of new teams that have really jumped into the competition. Toby and Gary Kronick from Brandt Travel also provided wine and gift card door prizes, which were awarded after each round of questions.

Althea Parent as always was the MC and Toby and Gary were her assistants; they helped keeping track of the time, kept the music playing and called names for door prizes. The new music added to Althea’s tablet by her husband Rick was a big hit again because he knows the kind of music Robson Ranch likes to hear.

We played six rounds, which were made up of three questions each, and teams would bet points on their answers. The Halftime question had two answers, and teams received one point for each correct answer; however, only one team knew the answers. The final question was worth one to 20 points, and teams could bet a minimum of one point or all 20 points. It was a tough one and nobody knew the answer, but it’s all about how many points you bet!

The categories vary each time but here are a few of the questions from the November Trivia. Answers are at the bottom.

1. Story Time: What radio commentator would signoff with, “And now you know the rest of the story?”

2. Games: How many squares are there on a scrabble board?

3. Sports: Mets fans in 1962 saw the worst baseball team in history. What were their final wins/losses?

4. Halftime Question: What are the names of the Goggle Co-Founders?

5. Final Questions: What are the names of the landmark lions which stand in front of the New York City Public Library?

Eight team members working together as one…no use of cell phones…no call a friend! With each of the Trivia nights there is a bit more of Robson Ranch competition going on, which is fun to observe.

Congratulations to the winning teams! Each of the winning team members received Wildhorse Grill gift certificates.

First place team: Trite & True (TNT) with 57 points; second place Bobbleheads with 56 points and third place 8 Cylinders with 53points.

Mark your calendars for the first 2016 Trivia Night, and it’s a special one: Friday, February 19, 7:00-9:30 p.m.

Take in dinner at the Grill, which will be in the clubhouse, and then come ready to play!
