In Passing

Marguerite Rose

Sandi Price

Marguerite Rose, a longtime homeowner, passed away a few minutes after midnight on March 4 due to complications of surgery. Her house was filled with friends and acquaintances on March 22 in celebration of her life.

A former home economics teacher in Lewisville, Marguerite moved her skills to Robson and in 2003 started the Material Girls club in her home. With her guidance, she and the club made quilts for kids, teens, nursing homes, the Denton Quilt Guild, soldiers, military kids for camp, and CASA, among other organizations. And then there were the pillowcases and Christmas stockings by the hundreds for organizations everywhere. She also created and led a quilt class every spring for new quilters.

Marguerite was a member of the Robson Choir, the Sunday Night Widows Mexican Train group, and Argyle Methodist Church.

I don’t think I ever saw her standing still unless she was teaching, and then her hands were moving. She will be so missed. Marguerite was always the first one at the Thursday club meetings to greet members as they arrived, and there was always a smile for everyone. She was there to lend a hand, teach us new projects, offer encouragement, and help in any way she could.

There are people around the world holding dear to the projects they received from her. Marguerite was simply one of a kind. Her spirit is now blessing those who have gone before her. Rest in peace, Marguerite. You will be remembered. She is survived by son Dean Rose.
