Jesse “Sarge” Raymond Lovelace Jr.

Jesse Raymond Lovelace Jr. left this earth and entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025. Born on March 11, 1940, he will be remembered for a life well lived, marked by laughter, love, service, and a steadfast devotion to his family and friends.

Jesse was born in Nashville, Tenn., to Jesse Raymond Lovelace Sr. and Francis Elizabeth Lovelace on March 11, 1940. Sarge, as he was nicknamed at a young age, grew up in Nashville and later moved with his family to Pasadena, Texas. While attending Pasadena schools, he participated in local sports and the FFA, showing hogs. He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1958 and enlisted in the United States Navy the same year. Jesse spent the next 4 years stationed in San Diego, Calif., where he took multiple cruises to the Far East and throughout the Pacific Ocean.

When his service was up in 1962, he enrolled at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Christine LaBarbera. They married on Jan. 23, 1965. The young couple started their life together in Huntsville, Texas, and upon graduation, Jesse went to work as an accountant for Texaco, moving to Houston, Texas; Atlanta, Ga.; Corum, N.Y.; and then back to Texas, settling in Alvin, where they spent most of their life together. Jesse worked many years with his father’s company, Jess Lovelace Construction in Pasadena, and then 10 years with Aztec Rentals in Houston.

Jesse enjoyed his many beloved horses and dogs, and playing golf with friends. Upon retirement, he and his wife Christine moved to Denton, Texas, where they enjoyed traveling abroad and taking several cruises. Jesse is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Christine Lovelace; sister, Betty Massey of Spring, Texas; sister Evelyn Hughes and Howard of Deer Park, Texas; son, Christoper Lovelace and Kim Lovelace of Sugar Land, Texas; son Daniel Lovelace and Misti Lovelace of Sugar Land, Texas; daughter Jessica Ware and Corey Ware of Grapevine, Texas; six grandchildren Kayla Lovelace, Madelyn Lovelace, Jack Lovelace, Cooper Lovelace, Luke Lovelace, and Alexa Ware.

His love for his beloved wife “Tine/Foosie” and his family was the center of his life. Sarge rejoiced in the growth of his children and grandchildren, most often with that playful manner and smile.
