If we saw you at the Robson Ranch Open House for clubs and organizations on Feb. 7, thanks for stopping by and saying hello! It was great experiencing the wide variety of activities and groups that are available in our community. We had some very good conversations with some of the folks who stopped by to say hello, and we learned a little about each other.
We had our first (hopefully, of many) Schmoozing Socials on Feb. 17. Donna and Larry Ditch opened their home to more than 30 guests so we could gather and mingle. There were some longtime friends, some we had not seen in a while, some newer residents, and some first-timers. The format was initially assigned seating that required everyone to sit at a table that was randomly selected for them, not where they chose. While out of some of our comfort zones, the results were right on target. Conversations were spirited, and much joy and laughter ensued. I found at least two compadres who came up in the same neighborhood as I did, albeit in different eras. It was a true representation of a Robson community, with folks hailing from everywhere. The variety of foods was ample and varied, ranging from appetizers to sliders to delicious desserts. Thank you, Donna and Larry, for a great time. We look forward to the next one.
Spring is a busy time. Upcoming is the celebration of Purim, the saving of our people from annihilation at the hands of Haman and King Ahasuerus. We had a timely presentation on March 1 by Kim Kamen, COO of the American Middle East Press Association (AMEPA). Her topic was “From Remembrance to Responsibility—Antisemitism, Moral Clarity, and the Choices Before Us.”
We have another presentation from UNT’s Kerry Goldmann scheduled. Then we cruise into Passover April 1-9.
Shalom
