‘June Is Bustin’ Out All Over’ in Sassy Stampers

Deena Barber

We are well into the month, but I was wondering how many song titles or names of people I could remember that had the name June in them? These came to mind: June Carter Cash, June Cleaver, June Allyson, June Lockhart. I dated myself with these. I could only come up with three tunes with June in them: “Rainy Day in June,” the one in my title, and “June Afternoon.”.

After our club business was taken care of, we received our ready-to-make card kits and had some fun. Our card of the month was a triple fold. It was brought to us by JoAnn Gantos. Sometimes I think that we have done every fold to a card possible just to find that there are many I have yet to learn. This one is cute as a button. Two flaps of graduating sizes with embellishments open up to the inside where a sentiment can be hand-written. It is difficult to visualize this, so get yourself down to the CATC building and look at our Sassy Stampers window display. Two of our very talented ladies spend their time each month artfully arranging the cards we make in class.

There are some national holidays in June to celebrate. For instance, did you know that this is National Iced Tea month? The Pioneer Press has arrived too late for us to know about National Nail Polish Day, which was on the 1st, and National Best Friends Day should have been celebrated on the 8th. We can still look forward to National Weed Your Garden Day on the 13th and Call Your Doctor Day on the 14th. Let’s not forget to celebrate all fathers on Father’s Day on the 16th.

This got me to wondering how these days come about. I did a little digging and discovered that if you have an idea for a national day, you can submit an application on the National Day Calendar website. This is the official platform for registering your suggestion. So, come up with your own idea to submit. Good luck!
