It’s July in Texas, so the Wine Knots decided to do a suitably deep, historical study of wine pairing. Naturally the research began at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. (This is Texas, y’all.) Immersed in the aromas and ambiance of the cattle show, Scott and Vicki Baker uncovered the perfect pairing for sizzling, summer evenings at the Ranch…wine slushies!
Chilling in the freezer as the adventurous tasters arrived were both a Sangria slushy and a Peach-Apricot slushy. The Sangria slushy, with a mix of fruit flavors and Sangria wine, was the favorite of most of the men in the group. The women tended to prefer the Peach-Apricot slushy. It was a little sweeter mix of fruit and Moscato wine. Either way, the slushies were cool and refreshing as the Wine Knots enjoyed the beautiful Robson golf course view from the Baker’s patio.
Moving to the tropical paradise created indoors (read air conditioned) we gathered to watch several of the video productions Scott has created for Robson’s in-house television channel 21. We followed the adventures of the Fishing Club, Robson Ranch Dance Club and Geocaching in Maine! As usual the appetizers brought by each couple were wonderful and varied. We wound up the evening with Key Lime Pie in a Jar and Blueberry Raspberry Upside-Down Cake. These were a totally perfect ending for a wine club that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Only the Wine Knots could walk away from a Texas stock show with a plan for a unique wine experience. Why Knot?
