A grant presentation was made to Justin Food Bank for $1,600; $800 was donated from Rotary International and matched by Champions Rotary Club.
The Justin Food Bank Mission is to provide needed assistance to those in the Justin area where the goal is self-sufficiency through God’s blessing.
The Food Bank is located at 405 West 3rd Street, Justin, TX 76247. Serving hours are every Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. They serve Justin and the surrounding zip code areas providing food for 300 to 350 people per month.
The Facebook page is Justin Community Food Pantry.
They operate as a client-select food pantry. Each week our clients receive a list of all the items we have to offer—the variety of selections are similar to being at a grocery store. Clients receive meat, bread, milk, cereal, produce, canned goods, baking items, misc. groceries, and personal hygiene items at each visit.
Their partnership with Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) gives us the opportunity to purchase food for a small maintenance fee. Additionally, they have great community support with food drives from several businesses and organizations. Fall is a popular time for food drives, so the timing of the donation from Rotary is perfect leading into the summer.
This is a community food pantry, so to have organizations, businesses, and individuals from the community supporting it is so encouraging for us!
Monetary donations can be mailed to Justin Cares, P.O. Box 492, Justin TX, 76247. There is a tub at the front door for donation drop offs any time or donations can be dropped off on Tuesdays between 4 and 6 p.m.
