The Kiwanis Club of Robson Ranch will be hosting a program by Lora Atkinson, the Executive Director of Denton Habitat for Humanity. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. on Oct. 1 in the clubhouse, but plan to come early for some socializing before the meeting begins. Guests are welcome to come and find out more about Kiwanis and Denton Habitat.
Lora will be talking about the great mission of Habitat—building affordable homes for low-income families and all the ways you can help support the Habitat mission—like donating furniture, appliances and other items (not clothing) to the Habitat ReStore on University Avenue; volunteering to help build homes, and making fully tax-deductible monetary donations since Denton Habitat is a 501(c)(3) charity. Lora will describe the development Habitat has planned for an eight-acre tract, on Duncan Street in Southeast Denton, into 35 home sites to be known as Habitat Village. Habitat has commenced a Capital Campaign to fund the cost of clearing and grading lots, constructing streets and installing utilities.
If you would like to make a donation, checks should be made payable to Habitat for Humanity of Denton County and sent to PO Box 425, Denton, TX 76202. Also, Denton Habitat is a great charity to receive some of your annual Required Minimum Distributions from your 401(k) plans in a manner which is not taxable to you.
