New Orleans may have the best Mardi Gras celebration in the United States, but the Baby Boomers at Robson Ranch are a close second. The Boomers celebration was held in the clubhouse ballroom and was filled with Boomers dressed in their best Mardi Gras attire. Each table had a beautiful centerpiece, Mardi Gras beads, and a mask.
What is a Mardi Gras celebration without sausage and chicken gumbo? The buffet featured the gumbo and was paired with rice and a side of a corn muffin. The bar also had a special drink, the New Orleans Hurricane.
Carol Jankowski and Susan Parker enlisted two veteran Mardi Gras experts, Carol French and Lorraine Hecker. With a powerhouse four, the celebration was on. Carol Jankowski started off the celebration with a Mardi Gras quiz. A second event for the Boomers was guessing how many beads were in a glass container. A participation secret event involved 5 lines of 10 Boomers moving a long set of beads in and out of each Boomer’s shirt. The evening was topped off with a parade of Boomers led by Carol French holding an umbrella and dancing and weaving their way around the room to the song “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
