On Thursday, Aug. 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., all Denton County state legislators are expected to be at Robson Ranch for a Legislation Celebration for wins they’ve recently achieved in the Texas House and Senate. The Robson Ranch Republican Club is partnering with the Denton County Republican Party (DCRP) to host our five State Representatives and two State Senators from Denton County for an evening of celebration and fun! We’ll even have a cash bar and light refreshments.
Tired of hearing doom and gloom about how nothing gets done? So are we! This will be a fun event where you hear from each of our elected representatives about the successes they had in getting legislation passed and how that will affect us.
You may have received emails from various groups “exposing” how their pet project or issue didn’t get passed with everything they wanted in it. What those special interest groups and the media leave out is that most legislation finally crosses the finish line due to tireless work over multiple sessions. Anyone who knows anything about politics knows you don’t get everything you want in every bill, and certainly not the first time it is presented. Some of this session’s victories were years in the making. At this event we’ll learn what has actually been accomplished!
After the main program, our Representatives or Senators from Denton County will stick around for a bit so you will have a chance to visit with them and even get your picture taken with them. State Senators Tan Parker and Drew Springer, along with State Representatives Lynn Stucky, Richard Hayes, Ben Bumgarner, Kronda Thimesch, and Jared Patterson, are all scheduled to appear at the event.
In order for us to have some idea of how many people will be there, please go to the DCRP website, dentongop.org, and RSVP now! There is no cost, but seating will first go to those who have RSVP’d, and we’re expecting a tremendous turnout from all across the county. This is a rare opportunity to have all the state legislators from our county gathered in one place to speak to you and make themselves available to talk with constituents.
We also encourage you to go to the Republican Club website, rrrepublicanclub.com, and join our club. Dues are only $10 per year per person. While you’re there, be sure to look around and see what’s coming up in the months ahead on our calendar. You won’t want to miss this and other fun and informative events!
